From the self-presentation of the institute: "The European Enterprise Institute (EEI) is a non-profit, non-party affiliated organization, registered in Belgium.
It aims to promote entrepreneurship in the EU policy community and to provide a platform for the ideas and philosophy of entrepreneurship throughout Europe.
The EEI works to facilitate research, debate and positive political action in all areas of policy with impact on the conditions for entrepreneurship, incentives for innovation, competitiveness and economic prosperity. The EEI seeks to strengthen the network of likeminded think tanks and people and to foster the Euro-Atlantic dialogue."
During summer 2010 the website of the institute showed the following notice:
"Time out<br/>Since the spring of 2010, after a period of high activity, the EEI has taken a time out from major activities - for various reasons, including funding.
In October, Research Director Johnny Munkhammar was elected a Member of Parliament in Sweden. He will devote substantial efforts to the Swedish reform agenda and has thus chosen not to continue in the capacity of Research Director.
Still, there is a demand for EEI activities and many people are in EEI networks. There is thus a potantial for the organisation to resume its work, in new forms.
Contact person until then is EEI President Peter Jungen."<br/>Now the content before of 2010 is presented anew, but the site lacks any reports on recent activities or publications.<br/>The inactivity of the institute may be caused by election of Johnny Munkammar - organisator of its content-related work - as elector to the Rijksdag in 2010 and prolonged by his death at the early age of 38 in 2012.
