Its objectives as fixed in the declaration on political principles include the creation and safeguarding of an open society of free citizens, the civil society. Task of the state is to guarantee the freedom of citizens and to give his agency a secure legal framework. The takeover of tasks in competition or in place of private companies by the state the foundation rejects. Its concept of sustainable policy stipulates that "the solution of today's problems (can't be determined) at the expense of future generations, to the detriment of public finances, in the social security systems and, above all, at the expense of a livable nature"(political principles, penultimate paragraph).
The foundation has a separate think tank section called "Liberal Institute", which should not be confused with the [[Liberal Institute]] which was founded in Zurich in 1979.
The foundation offers scholarships for students.
