The institute presents itself as a institution of scientific economic research. It promotes a more business-friendly economic and politic environment and a lean, economically non-intrusive state. But it focusses not on up-to-dateness, but mostly on in depth research. According to Hannah Kordik and Franz Schellhorn for the Presse (http://diepresse.com/home/wirtschaft/international/691244/Eco-Austria_Konkurrenz-fur-Wifo-und-IHS) IV will give a yearly support of 300.000€.
einleitung
The EA was founded with financial support of the Industriellenvereinigung (IV). Previously the IV curtailed its contribution to the WiFo-Institute arguing the WiFo would be leaning to the left. The founder(s) worked before for the IHS, which is more friendly to the industry, but as it seems not enough.
This is the third attempt of operating a research institute agreeable to the IV. Before there existed the Institut für Wirtschaft und olitik (IWIP) (supported by the IV, 1978-2001 or a little later), then Austria perspektiv – Ein Institut der Österreichischen Wirtschaft (supported by the IV, the WKOe and several Corporations, 2002-2005) (compare: http://www.conturen.net/%C3%BCber-uns/theo-faulhaber/)
