    einleitung

The private, non-profit group takes its name from the Spanish philosopher Juan de Mariana, who defended property rights and advocated limited government. It was founded in 2005 by Gabriel Calzada with the aim of becoming a point of reference for the ideas of a free society in debates. To this end, it carries out analyses of current events and disseminates them to the Spanish-speaking community. The Institute launched with a seminar opposing the Kyoto Protocol, attended by Christopher Horner of the Competitive Enterprise Institute.
